PRESS RELEASE October 2022 LAURA ASHLEY & BATSHEVA UNVEIL THIRD LIMITED EDITION COLLECTION
London, UK – Oct. 19 – Laura Ashley, one of the world's best-loved home and lifestyle brands, is set to transform winter wardrobes with its latest fashion collaboration with Batsheva, a New York City-based ready-to-wear brand for women and girls. It will debut on Wednesday 19th October.
Laura Ashley and Batsheva have successfully partnered on two previous fashion capsules, with the most recent collection launching earlier this year (May 2022). The new collection features 22 items and captures Batsheva’s signature style with high collars, voluminous sleeves and skirts, beautifully paired with Laura Ashley’s vibrant floral prints.
Unlike the first two collections, the third capsule takes inspiration from a 1970s aesthetic, and a contrasting vibrant colour palette. It harks back to the Laura Ashley look and feel from the period, but with a fresh and modern twist that is set to inspire new and existing customers.
Designer Batsheva Hay says, “For this collection, I wanted to concentrate on older prints and really saturated colours, to go back to some of the Laura Ashley basics. I was thinking about the clothing being infused with a deep sense of romance and calm, being easy to throw on, but still having touches of lace and ruffles.”
The Laura Ashley archive continued to be a source of inspiration in the design process. Batsheva explains, “I always start by choosing some great archival sketches and re-making them with small adjustments and fabric choices that excite me.” From daisy to bramble and rose prints, the floral designs add a pop of colour to the traditionally darker shades of the season for a collection that will brighten up even the coolest day.
Carolyn D’Angelo, Managing Director, Gordon Brothers Brands and President of Laura Ashley Global, says: “Our past two collections with Batsheva have been hugely successful so we’re delighted to launch our third collaboration with a range that is both nostalgic and modern. Batsheva’s unique eye has breathed new life into these archival designs and we look forward to continuing our partnership to engage more customers with the Laura Ashley brand.”
Remarking on her favourite Laura Ashley print in the collection, Batsheva adds, “The Waverly Dress in Blue Manafone is my favourite. It's based on an archival sketch from the 1970s and made in a 1970s print as well. The shape is so old-school Laura Ashley and the print works perfectly. It makes me feel romantic and natural, which is so nice especially since I live in such an intense city.”
With prices ranging from $150-310 RRP, the 22 designs include dresses, blouses and skirts. The collection will be online on Batsheva.com, Net-a-Porter.com, Matchesfashion.com, Saks.com, Nordstrom.com, Shopbop.com and Fred Segal.

ABOUT BATSHEVA
Batsheva is a New York-based ready-to-wear brand for women and girls. Founded in 2016 by Batsheva Hay, Batsheva plays with American styles of feminine dress – from Victorian to Pioneer; from Housewife to Hippie – by taking elements symbolic of restraint and repression (high collars, voluminous sleeves and skirts) and giving them a modern inflection. By retooling historical looks, Batsheva explores how to extract the strong and beautiful aspects of those styles while rejecting antiquated notions of womanhood. www.batsheva.com
